The “110kV Tran De – 220kV Soc Trang Substation Transmission Line” project in Can Tho City has been successfully completed.
On January 5, 2026, with the support of the Southern Power System Dispatch Center (SSO), Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) directed its affiliated units to successfully energize the “110kV Tran De – 220kV Soc Trang Substation Transmission Line” project in Can Tho City.
This achievement reflects EVNSPC’s continuous efforts over the past 10 days, especially during the recent New Year holiday, when the entire project team worked non-stop. Engineers and workers remained fully committed, working through the holiday to ensure progress and complete the project in time to welcome the New Year 2026.

EVNSPC Chairman of the Members’ Council, Lê Văn Trang (in striped shirt), encouraged workers at the construction site of the Sóc Trăng transmission line.
The project is invested by EVNSPC with a total initial investment of over VND 127 billion. Its scope includes the construction of a new single-circuit 110kV transmission line over 32 km in length, expansion of bays 112 and 172 at the 110kV Tran De Substation, and installation of synchronized protection, control, and metering systems.
Construction began on December 28, 2024. The transmission line runs through Soc Trang City and the districts of My Xuyen and Tran De (formerly Soc Trang Province), starting at the 220kV Soc Trang Substation and ending at the 110kV Tran De Substation. Earlier, on April 19, 2025, Phase 1 of the project—covering the bay expansion at the 110kV Tran De Substation—was completed and energized.
Once operational, the project forms a 110kV loop connecting Tran De, Dai Ngai, and Cu Lao Dung substations to the 220kV Soc Trang Substation, thereby enhancing operational safety and improving the reliability of power supply in the region. It also increases operational flexibility for 110kV substations, enabling readiness for future renewable energy integration and gradually contributing to the development of a smart grid.

EVNSPC workers and the construction unit worked with high concentration, accelerating the progress of stringing wires at night.
The project’s “accelerated” completion was made possible by timely decisions from EVNSPC leadership. Upon recognizing that the main contractor might not meet the schedule, EVNSPC promptly mobilized additional forces from its Investment Management Board and rapid-response teams from power companies in Can Tho, Dong Thap, and An Giang. These personnel had previously participated in the 500kV Quang Trach – Pho Noi transmission line project (Circuit 3) in 2023, bringing extensive experience, strong technical expertise, and high discipline, enabling them to handle the intensive workload during the final phase.
Throughout the final sprint, with close day-and-night supervision and an accelerated construction pace, EVNSPC leaders were regularly present at the site to inspect, direct, and encourage the workforce working alongside contractors. Chairman of the Members’ Council Le Van Trang, Deputy General Director Bui Quoc Hoan, and the Board of Directors of Can Tho Power Company visited and encouraged more than 80 workers and nearly 100 staff members of the rapid-response teams working along the entire route. Although modest, these tokens of appreciation provided meaningful encouragement, strengthening morale and determination among workers at the site.
In addition, the EVNSPC Trade Union organized a commitment-signing ceremony at the site to launch a peak emulation campaign, aiming to ensure the project is completed on schedule, with quality and absolute safety. This was not merely a formal event but a strong commitment, reflecting close coordination between the trade union and technical teams during the project’s critical phase.

EVNSPC workers approached the site and began installing poles.
At nearly 8:00 PM on January 5, 2026, the project was successfully energized and completed as planned. This marks an important milestone, demonstrating EVNSPC’s decisive leadership, flexible organization, and disciplined execution, as well as effective coordination among participating units both within and outside the sector.
The completion and operation of the project not only contribute to ensuring energy security and improving the reliability of power supply but also effectively support the socio-economic development of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region in the future.
